OPRAD is the acronym for Outside Plant Reports and Database. It is a Y2K compliant PC based CPR that was developed with the input of numerous telephone company accountants. The reports are pre-designed and generated from an MS Access database. The CPR is organized by a Front End menu with feature items that are selected by pointing and clicking with a mouse.  Each Menu Item has a specific CPR function as described on the following pages.

The OPRAD CPR is customized to your company’s current operating standards and nomenclature. It requires no changes to your accounting practices or methodology. The reporting power and user ease is accredited to the complex but transparent programming that runs in the background, and to the  built in Help Menu’s.

OPRAD easily adds new records. If linked to MAPCOM GIS software, additions and retirements are automatically populated to the form. Finding, Changing and Deleting records uses the same simple but powerful method. There are no complicated Cells, Rows, Fields, Expressions, Operators etc.

The OPRAD CPR simplifies data entry by providing drop down pick lists to select input information. This totally eliminates erroneous and redundant report data. Controlling the information displayed in these lists is a breeze.

OPRAD is truly user friendly, because it was specifically designed to eliminate the need for you to understand programming language and the necessity to submit requests to Information Services personnel for information that you need now.

The OPRAD CPR uses a GUI (Graphic User Interface) to help simplify report generation. The interface is a custom graphic depiction of  “your” Telephone Companies Exchange(s) and Customer Serving Area boundaries. Pointing and clicking with a mouse button will display a report selection that is specific to within the selected boundary. In Addition to individual Exchanges and CSA Boundaries, single button reports can be generated for the entire Telephone Company. Using a GUI in the form of a “Graphic Service Area Boundary Map” makes navigation  between reports faster and user friendly.

Instantaneous reports are generated when you click the “TOTAL VALUE”, “ROUTE MILES”, and “SHEATH MILES” command buttons. The data for these reports is read directly from the relational tables in the OPRAD CPR.

All changes made to the CPR or the MAPCOM system records are immediately recalculated and incorporated into these reports each time they are generated.

The “CABLE FEET”, Cost Per Foot”, “Average POLE Cost”, and “GENERAL REPORT” menu buttons provide a form with Drop Down Pick-Lists that simplify the selection of the data that you want to include in your report. With a  single click these reports can be  restricted to display a specific Exchange, CSA, School District, Tax District, Material unit, Account Number, Right of Way, or Ownership. Any other relevant information that is unique to your report needs can be keyed in.

All Reports that are generated can be Previewed before Printing. Additionally, the  records displayed in the report can be sorted and arranged  in various ways with a single click on a “Sort Menu”.

A customized report can be easily created for “any” Plant Item based on  its “Location”, “Material”, “Quantity” or “Cost”.  Using the “GENERAL QUERY FORM” you can search thousands of records for a single item and generate one of 100’s of unique reports in just seconds.

The OPRAD CPR has an archive database specifically designed to retain historic records of Retired Plant Units. Material Items are easily retired and their Value is deducted from the active database and automatically transferred to the Retirements database.  A Retirement report can be created from the “Retirement Reports” Menu in seconds.

The Utilities menu provides an easy method to add or change information

in the Drop-Down Pick-Lists. The Drop Down lists provide the data that you select to set up your Report Forms or when Adding records. The Drop-Down lists are  located on the input Forms.

A full Version of the OPRAD RUS Glossary is incorporated into the CPR

Application and is accessible from the Front Menu of the CPR. The Glossary

provides a Photographic reference tool that explains RUS units and their

relationship to Accountants, Managers, Engineers, and Construction work.
